Charity Golf Tournament Announced
March 1, 2021
Newport Mental Health has announced the date of their 7th annual charity golf event. This year's tournament will take place at the exclusive Aquidneck Club, in Portsmouth RI on Monday May 17. Sponsorships are being accepting now, and public registration will open on March 29.
The tournament promises to provide golfers with an exclusive experience at one of Rhode Island’s most luxurious clubs, and private golf courses. The charity tournament benefits over 1,100 Newport County residents that receive mental health services each year. The Aquidneck Club (formerly The Carnegie Abbey Club), features an 18-hole, par 71 Scottish links-style championship golf course, designed by Donald Steel. A modern-day British architect, Steel intended this hallmark Rhode Island golf course to feature the area’s historic terrain and natural landscape, taking full advantage of the unique waterfront location and panoramic views.
Perks that players will enjoy include valet parking, access to the clubhouse, locker rooms, restaurant, putting, chipping and driving range. Each foursome will be guided by a caddie with carts. Players will have the unique opportunity to enjoy the stunning course, and take a shot at a $100,000 hole in one, compete for the longest drive, closest to the pin, and beat the pro competitions. Golfers will be treated to a chef prepared dinner during the Awards Reception, and enjoy an open bar throughout the afternoon and evening.
