Lobby Muddy Fest fun benefits Newport Mental Health
August 2, 2022
The clients served by Newport Mental Health will benefit from the 3rd Annual Lobby Muddy Fest, to be held on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 2 to 6 pm at On the Docks at Waites Wharf.
The Lobby Muddy Fest began as a weekly summer Sunday afternoon gathering of friends James Miller, Billy Palmer and Ben and Jim Iacoi, at O’Brien’s in Newport. Before too long, the group saw the potential in making this ritual into something more.
“We saw an opportunity to turn something that we did weekly into something that would bring people together to benefit a bigger cause. What started as a few friends trying to give back to a place they love so much has turned into something that we are very proud to present each and every year at Lobby Muddy Fest” said Miller.
In a few short years Lobby Muddy Fest has become one of the most well-attended charity events of the summer, boasting over 250 guests and raising $7,500 in 2021.
Ticket price is $80 and includes a mudslide, lobster roll (or other sandwich if allergies are a concern), Lobby Muddy Fest t-shirt and tote bag. Live music is by Never in Vegas, and there will be silent and live auctions and merchandise for sale. Lobby Muddy Fest 2022 is presented by Warwick Tree Service, the event’s keynote sponsor.
“We are thrilled to be selected as recipient of this year’s Lobby Muddy Fest proceeds,” said Jamie Lehane, CEO of Newport Mental Health. “It’s exciting to see a new group of younger people from our community become inspired about helping others while they have a good time. Their efforts will benefit those who need behavioral health care throughout Newport County. It’s something we are almost all touched by in one way or the other.”
