March 4, 2024 (Middletown, RI) – Newport Mental Health’s Annual Meeting was held in February at the Wyndham Newport Hotel.
Richard Charest, Secretary of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) for the State of Rhode Island, delivered the keynote address. “Partnerships with organizations like Newport Mental Health are critical to EOHHS’ mission to ensure high-quality, effective services that foster health, safety, and independence for all Rhode Islanders,” he said in his remarks. For his part in promoting adoption of the transformational Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic initiative at Newport Mental Health and statewide, Newport Mental Health President & CEO, Dayna Gladstein, awarded Secretary Charest the organization’s Outstanding Community Service Award.
In recognizing its employees, Outstanding Service Recognition Awards were presented to Jo-Ann Gershkoff, Staff Accountant; Kayla Barrett, Case Manager; Christopher Sbardella, Evening Mobile Crisis Clinician; and Jamie Lehane, immediate past President & CEO. The J. Clement Cicilline Award, the organization’s highest honor, was awarded to both Elizabeth Clark, a Registered Nurse, and Madisson Catanzaro, Substance Use Services Director at Newport Mental Health.
At the Board of Directors Meeting held earlier in the day, Nicki Colosi Trilling was voted in as Chair of the Board for 2024. Joyce A. Kirby, Esq., outgoing chair, was presented with a special resolution from the Board thanking her for 10 years of service to Newport Mental Health.
