For Children and Teens

Programs

Outpatient Therapy

Our program provides wraparound services for any child, ages 4 to 18, who is experiencing mental health challenges, substance use disorder, or any co-occurring disorders. Trauma-informed child and adolescent therapists provide an array of evidence-based therapies and services including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

Outpatient therapy takes place in our offices. Children, parents, and/or guardians work with our team to develop a recovery plan through shared decision-making.

Enhanced Outpatient Services

Enhanced Outpatient Services (EOS) are home and community-based clinical services provided up to 5 days per week, and extended timeframes a day, for children 7 to 18 years old whose recovery plan includes a need for more intensive services.

Intensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services (IICAPS)

This is a home-based treatment program for children or adolescents ages 4 to 16+. It was designed by Yale University School of Medicine for children with psychiatric disorders whose families need assistance and support to keep their child in their home and community and out of the hospital.

Newport Mental Health offers IICAPS to families with children experiencing chronic and acute psychiatric crisis. You may request an IICAPS evaluation during walk-in hours,  or call to schedule an evaluation: (401) 846-1213.

Healthy Transitions/Youth and Young Adult Center

Healthy Transitions is an early intervention program for youth/young adults ages 16 to 25. This is a team-based practice that provides developmentally appropriate services and supports for those at risk of having, or who are currently experiencing, a first experience with a serious adult mental illness, and who may also have a co-occurring substance use disorder.

Additional Support and Services

Clients in our programs receive additional support, care, and services as needed.

Zero Suicide

Our healthcare providers are specially trained in administering an evidence-based screening tool, the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale, at each contact with those we serve. Newport Mental Health providers initiate a Pathway to Safety for those individuals identified as at-risk, who are then given specialized suicide prevention treatment services and are closely monitored until their risk subsides. Ongoing follow-up is provided to reduce the reoccurrence of suicide risk.

Housing Stabilization

A Medicaid-funded housing support service allows us to provide at-risk clients housing stabilization to prevent the loss of existing housing or to provide help finding affordable housing in the community. We coordinate with housing support staff at the Newport Housing Authority, McKinney Shelter/50 Washington Square Apartments, and senior housing developments in Newport County.

Telehealth

Appointments with a clinician or prescriber can be arranged via telehealth. Private telehealth consultation rooms are available in our offices for those clients who do not have internet access or a computer.
